Shaw & Co, the specialist corporate finance advisory firm, has been shortlisted for three awards at this week’s Insider South West Annual Dealmaker Awards.

The annual wards celebrate the standout deals in the region over the past 12 months, recognising and rewarding the wealth of talent across its corporate finance and dealmaking community.

Shaw & Co has been shortlisted in the following categories:

• Corporate Finance Advisory Team of the Year

The Shaw & Co team focussed on supporting CBILS (Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme) and CLBILS (Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loan Scheme) applications for businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The team advised over 500 business owners, helping them to access over £35m of funding.

• Deal of the Year

Shaw & Co advised on the acquisition of Bristol-based Senta, the cloud-based practice management software for accountants and bookkeepers, by IRIS Software Group, one of the UK’s largest privately held software companies. The deal saw Shaw & Co support Senta’s management team on the end-to-end trade sale process, ensuring that they obtained the optimum deal in a transaction process that took just eight weeks from offer acceptance to completion.

• ‍Dealmaker of the Year

Meanwhile, Jim Shaw, Founder and CEO of Shaw & Co, has also been nominated in the ‘Dealmaker of the Year’ category. In the last 12 months Jim has managed five major deals in the South West region with a combined deal value of £66m. These include the aforementioned sale of Senta to the billion-pound IRIS Software Group, the sale of Keep It Simple Limited (KITS) to The Panoply Holdings PLC, and the sale of Smartbox to CareTech Holdings PLC (October 2020).
