The sale of The Safeguarding Company (TSC) to Tes has been nominated in the ‘Deal of the Year’ category at the Insider Wales Dealmakers’ Awards.

Corporate finance specialist Shaw & Co advised TSC on the deal which also involved Octopus Ventures, one of TSC’s key shareholders.

Based in Talbot Green, South Wales, TSC provides digital solutions that prevent, reduce and help to eliminate abuse, harm and neglect, protecting the wellbeing of over 1.25m children and adults. Its clients include numerous educational establishments across the UK as well as organisations such as the Premier League, Motorsport UK, the PGA, Cardiff Council, Swansea Council, Cardiff City FC and the WRU.

Tes, meanwhile, is an international brand with over 13 million educators in its community and working relationships with 25,000 schools in over 100 countries. Its range of software supports schools with timetabling, SEND provision, behaviour management, staff wellbeing and parents’ evenings. The company is also the publisher of the venerated Times Educational Supplement.

The acquisition has brought TSC’s leading suite of complementary digital solutions to complete the entire safeguarding picture for schools, colleges and Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs).
