Shaw & Co, the specialist corporate finance advisory firm, was ‘Highly Commended’ in two categories at last night’s Insider South West Annual Dealmaker Awards.

The annual awards celebrate the standout deals in the region over the past 12 months, recognising and rewarding the wealth of talent across its corporate finance and dealmaking community.

Shaw & Co was Highly Commended in the following categories:

• Deal of the Year

Shaw & Co advised on the acquisition of Bristol-based Senta, the cloud-based practice management software for accountants and bookkeepers, by IRIS Software Group, one of the UK’s largest privately held software companies. The deal saw Shaw & Co support Senta’s management team on the end-to-end trade sale process, ensuring that they obtained the optimum deal in a transaction process that took just eight weeks from offer acceptance to completion. Corporate and commercial law firm Roxburgh Milkins provided legal advice on the deal.

• Dealmaker of the Year  

Jim Shaw, Founder and CEO of Shaw & Co, was Highly Commended following a busy 12 months where he managed five major deals in the South West region with a combined deal value of £66m. These included the aforementioned sale of Senta to the billion-pound IRIS Software Group, the sale of  Keep It Simple Limited (KITS) to The Panoply Holdings PLC, and the sale of Smartbox to CareTech Holdings PLC (October 2020).
