Chippenham-based Synergy Automotive Electronics Limited secures the coveted ‘Most Innovative Tech Solution’ award at The Wiltshire Techies 2020.
Organised by The Business Exchange, the Techies is a celebration of the innovation and entrepreneurship of the IT and tech community in Swindon & Wiltshire. Now in its third year, the Techies truly puts the spotlight on the region’s most exciting tech firms.
Following an extensive judging process, the category was unanimously awarded to Synergy for its Safe Zone AI system, which uses Artificial Intelligence for cyclist and pedestrian detection.
Synergy AI Safe Zone, is an advanced Artificial Intelligence system using AI Deep Learning computer vision technology to prevent accidents with pedestrians and workers in challenging environments, particularly on congested construction sites and large infrastructure projects. In situations where plant and people interact, the system can dramatically mitigate the risk of injuries and fatalities.
Speaking about the award win, Nick Oakland, Head of Application Engineering at Synergy said: “It’s all thanks to a great team effort by everyone at Synergy that has helped us to win the award for most innovative tech solution. I am really proud of what we’ve achieved in a very challenging year.”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, over 100 finalists and sponsors joined online in a virtual ceremony which included a performance by six-time UK DJ Champion Asian Hawk. The category finalists also included LED solutions manufacturer INFiLED, and mathematics teacher Joe Morgan. The ceremony took place on Thursday 5th November.
